Poultry slaughterhouse Remkes whitens floor to reduce heat stress
Per the advice of Eyes on Animals, poultry slaughterhouse Remkes whitewashed the floor of their covered parking lot for poultry trucks. By whitening it, the floor reflects more sunlight and therefor decreases the temperature of the parking area. Shorter waiting times for medication goat kids
Until recently, sick goat kids were not always treated. There was a required waiting period of at least 28 days for medication. In other words, the goat kids may only be slaughtered 28 days after treatment. IMPORTANT NEWS: Transport of unweaned calves by truck and ferry from Ireland to France systematically violates EU feeding intervals
In a response to our questions, the EU Commission confirms that there is no derogation to the feeding intervals in the case of animals transported on RORO (roll-on roll-off) vessels. Animals transported on journeys including a RORO must be fed at the same frequency as ones transported solely by road.
